They say a picture paints a thousand words, so instead of writing another Hedge-Blog, I will show you a recent turfing job Hedge-Hogs Outdoor undertook in Ilkley, West Yorkshire using pictures instead. New turf naturally looks different to the surrounding grass because it may be a different grass and has been cared for in a different way.
- Area to be turfed.
- Preparation of the ground
- Soiling under the turf
- Turf grows better when the under soil is irregular.
- A piece of the turf.
- Start turfing around the perimeter.
- Fill in the gaps
- Use a board to reach the center so footsteps don;t ruin the freshly laid turf.
- Turfing finished.
- View from afar.
- View from even further. The turf will even out over time and the visible lines will disappear and blend with the surrounding grass.
